I launched RealDealRetirement.com for one simple reason: to provide realistic retirement-planning advice for real people leading real lives.

Toward that end, RealDealRetirement starts with the premise that planning for retirement doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, simpler is better.

So while other sites overwhelm you with information of dubious practical value or give the impression that you’re not serious about your retirement unless you follow every wiggle of the stock market and are constantly on the lookout for the “best” mutual fund or ETF, RealDealRetirement
will cut through the clutter and home in on what you really need to know.

Specifically, RealDealRetirement will focus on helping you get the Big Things right—namely, saving consistently, investing sensibly, judiciously managing your nest egg in retirement, occasionally monitoring your progress and making reasonable adjustments as you go along.

In short, RealDealRetirement not only recognizes that you can’t (or don’t want to) spend every waking moment dealing with your finances; it also understands that a hyperactive approach is ultimately counterproductive.

That doesn’t mean RealDealRetirement won’t report on new research and trends in retirement planning. It will. But the aim of the coverage and stories you’ll find on the site will always be to provide you only with the information and advice you truly need. Thus, if the latest research or a new craze is something we at RealDealRetirement believe you should approach warily—or simply ignore—we’ll come right out and say so.

So if you agree with the idea that in retirement planning, as with much else in life, less really is more, and if you’re up for realistic and useable retirement advice, let’s get started.
